What better meal to start the new year than this delicious dish. Ham is always a go-to choice as an alternative from chicken or the good old holiday turkey. What’s more, it can be glazed and seasoned just as you would your holiday turkey and achieve the same result, even better. This meal’s sweet and savoury combination is a firm favourite of many palettes who enjoy a fusion of both flavours.
Serves 6. Prep and cook time: 1 hour.
Ingredients
- Ready-to-eat spiral-cut allspice cooked ham (2 lbs)
- Honey (1 cup)
- Melted butter (1/2 cup)
- Brown sugar (1/2 cup)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 165 degrees Celsius (325 degrees Fahrenheit). Line your pan with foil and place the ham already prepared with allspice in it.
- For the glaze, pour and combine the honey, butter, and brown sugar in a small saucepan. Put on low heat just enough to warm it up.
- Brush glaze over the spiced ham and place in the oven to bake for about 45 minutes to 1 hour (baste every 15 minutes to infuse more flavours and caramelize the glaze around the ham).
- Remove from the oven and allow to rest.
Serve with a side of mashed or baked potatoes, steamed rice, and veggies. Enjoy!
